Candyce Garret was honored in 2016 to be one of the four international sculptors invited by Japanese granite artist, Keizo Ushio, to go to Japan and carve a piece in memory of the Tohoku Tsunami victims. This sculpture is 55 inches in diameter and 10 inches thick. Carved as one piece of solid granite, it signifies the unity and “oneness” felt by the entire nation after this great tragedy took 15,894 lives and left 2,500 missing in 2011. The memorial named “Hope, Friendship and Honesty” is eternally located in the northeast area of Japan where this devasting event...
